ONGC Surat Recruitment 2016 Written Test Pattern and Syllabus


Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, Surat has issued a recruitment notification recently for filling up the posts of Assistant Technicians and Junior Assistant Technicians. The final selection will be based on the candidate’s performance in written examination and his past academic performance in Diploma or ITI or B.Sc or any other course.

ONGC Written Exam Pattern and Syllabus:
The written test comprises of MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions)  of 2 hours duration. The questions will be of following category:
(i)           Domain related/ Subject which is given 80% weightage
(ii)          Aptitude and General Mental Ability to test a candidate’s analytical & logical reasoning, comprehension ability, interpersonal skills, data interpretation skills, basic numeracy and general awareness which will be of 20% weightage.
The exam will be conducted in English language. However if a candidate wishes, he may get the question paper in Hindi language provided he has already mentioned the same in his application form.

Criteria for Selection:
Selection of prospective candidates will be based on the following methodology:
     A)  For Posts 1 to 6 in Job Notification [Refer the link at the end of the post]:
-      85 Marks for Written Test
-      10 Marks for Academic Performance on Trade Cert-A1 or Diploma in engineering- A2.
-      5 marks for Diploma in eligible qualification or On producing Apprenticeship Certificate in relevant Trade.

     B)  For Post 7 in Job Notification [Refer the link at the end of the post]:
-      85 Marks for Written Test
-      15 Marks based on candidate’s academic performance in qualifying exams.

Scheme of awarding marks based on Academics:

Posts: Sl. No. 1 to 6 of the advertisement
Discipline:  Engineering Disciplines
Upto 45% in qualifying exam: 3 marks
Above 45% and upto 55% in qualifying exam: 6 marks
Above 55% in qualifying exam: 10 marks

Posts: Sl. No. 7 of the advertisement
Discipline:  Chemistry Discipline
Upto 45% in qualifying exam: 5 marks
Above 45% and upto 55% in qualifying exam: 10 marks
Above 55% in qualifying exam: 15 marks
